Welcome to Urban Numina

Welcome to the birthplace of the Urban Numina webseries and Movie! On this blog you will be privy to the creative process behind making a web series and movie, the steps along the journey from conception to distribution.

Urban Numina began life as a zero budget webseries about three friends who find themselves sharing their flat with an amnesiac god named Deus.

There goals behind the development of this series  were

  • Creativity - first and foremost, Urban Numina is about the creative process. Through following this blog and the development of the idea behind the series you will get to see some of the process that goes into creating a web show.
  • Community - by sharing the process with you, we're helping you provide feedback on some of the ideas being developed and giving fans a chance to engage with the series in a more personal way.
  • Inspiration - one of the key goals of Urban Numina is to inspire other would-be film-makers and webshow creators into making their own projects by showing how it is done from the first step to the last.
  • Low Budget - in order to inspire those who might not have a lot of specialised equipment, we are endeavouring to write, shoot and edit Urban Numina using only free or easily available low cost equipment and software.
Since the inception of this series and blog, Urban Numina has been through quite a lot. The first season was completed around June/July 2011. Since then, Urban Numina has grown as a concept and currently a feature film script is in rewrites as part of the Make My Movie competition.

Urban Numina - the movie version - is the story of Andrea, Devon and Mel and how their relationships and lives are turned upside down by Deus' unexpected arrival in the middle of things.

It will be focused on the core concept of the show, three people and how the intervention of a god throws all their life plans into disarray.

The blog currently is covering Conan's rewrites and development of the film, along with the progress of Urban Numina in the Make My Movie competition.

You can contact Conan at conan@urbannumina.co.nz or thewcproject@gmail.com, he is always happy to chat about film and discuss the process that went into the creation of Urban Numina.
